Men's Swimming Trounces Black Bears

CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- The Boston College mens swimming team came back from a narrow loss to Boston University to trounce the Black Bears of Maine 201-73. The Eagles captured first place in 15 of the 16 events. With the win, the Eagles got back to the .500 mark, as they are now 5-5 overall.
Boston College head coach Tom Groden was extemely pleased with the effort of all his swimmers. Groden awarded sophomore diver Mike Wilt (Columbia, CT) the teams Outstanding Performer award after he captured a personal best 204.33 points in winning the 1-meter diving competition. Wilt also scored a 240.37 to win the 3-meter diving event.
Groden awarded junior Greg Dwyer (Rochelle Park, NH) the Outstanding Performance for winning the 500-yard freestyle event (5:00.57)
Besides Wilt, only one other Eagle captured first place in two events. Sophomore Ken Barton (Meridian, CT) won both the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.08) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.60)
The Eagles finish up their season in February with three meets: at Howard University (Feb 5), at Georgetown (Feb. 6) and at home against Providence (Feb. 13). Boston College then has a little time off before the BIG EAST Championships the weekend of Feb. 25-27
