Men's Swimming Narrowly loses to BU

BOSTON -- The Boston College mens swimming team narrowly missed defeating Commonwealth Avenue rival Boston University, falling 153-146. The meet came down to the final race, the 400-yard freestyle relay, where the Eagles finished two seconds behind the Terriers. With the loss, Boston College fell to 4-5 overall.
Eagle head coach Tom Groden named sophomore Ken Barton (Meridian, CT) the teams Outstanding Performer. Barton captured both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.65) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.95). Groden gave sophomore Russell Keil (Tiburon, CA) the Outstanding Performance award for his effort in the 100-yard freestyle. Keil won the race with a time of 48.90, nearly two seconds faster than his nearest competition.
The Eagles next meet is at home against the University of Maine on January 30.
