Men's Swimming Defeats Howard

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Boston College mens swimming team improved its record to 6-5 on the season with a convincing 144-73 win over Howard University. The Eagles captured eight of the meets 13 events.
Boston College head coach Tom Groden named senior Mike Walsh (Edina, MN) the Eagles Outstanding Performer for winning the 100-yard backstroke (56.89) and swimming the opening leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay.
Groden also gave sophomore Paul Callahan (Churchville, PA) the teams Outstanding Performance for his effort in the 200-yard freestyle, which he won (1:51.92). Callahan lead an Eagles sweep of the first three places in that race. The Eagles also captured the first three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, wich senior Steve Szenjer (Bowling Green, KY) capturing the win with a time of 5:13.97.
The Eagles remained in Washington, D.C. on Sunday to face Georgetown.
