Men's Swimming Defeats Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Boston College men's swimming team captured a solid 103-63 win over Farifield University in a Nov. 11 meet. The Eagles upped their record to 2-0 on the season.
Head coach Tom Groden named sophomore Bob Foley (Scituate, MA) the meets outstanding performer. Foley won both the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.82) and the 400 yard freestyle (4:33.49). He was the only Eagle to capture two victories.
Groden named sophomore Marc Manganiello (Norwich, VT) the top performer for his effort in the 200 yard individual medley. He won the race with a time 2:23.67, just three-tenths of a second ahead of a Fairfield swimmer.
The Eagles won all but two events. Boston College won the first event, the 200 yard medley relay, by capturing four of the top five positions. The Eagles also swept the top three spots in the 100 yard backstroke and the 400 yard freestyle.
Other Boston College swimmers who captured first place finishes included senior Steve Szejner (Bowling Green, KY), junior Fletcher Evens (Mercer Island, WA), senior Edward Fitzpatrick (Staten Island, NY) and junior Justin toumey (Long Beach, NY) .
