Women Swimmers fall to Yale 169-131

New Haven, Conn. - - Both Boston College squads lost to Yale in a meet held Friday, Nov. 19 in New Haven. The women?s squad (0-2) fell 169-131 while the men?s team (2-2) compiled 84 points to Yale?s 211.
Kristen Gray (West Boylston, Mass.) won the three-meter diving competition with her 166.40 effort while teammate Shannon Lents (Boca Raton, Fla.) came in third in the same event (156.80). The couple went three-four in the one-meter event, totaling 158.15 and 151.20 points, respectively.
Nicole Duffy (Chesterfield, Mo.) finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking 10:27.26. She was also second in the middle-distance event, 500 freestyle, with a time of 5:07.07. Other first-place BC finishers included Alexis Kostopoulos (Marblehead, Mass.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.54). The sophomore also grabbed an event-winning time of 2:25.62 in the 200 breaststroke. Brianne Sullivan (Staten, Island, N.Y.) outpaced the 100 backstroke field with her effort of 59.44.
Lauren Schwartz (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) won the 200 butterfly (2:09.23) event while finishing third in the 400 individual medley (4:39.63). Freshman Nina Suryoutomo (Fremont, Calif.) earned first in the 50 free (24.28), second in the 100 free (52.55) and third in the 100 fly (1:00.07).
On the men?s side, Ken Barton (Meridien, Conn.) was second in the 100 breaststroke event, swimming 1:00.68 in addition to a third in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.45). Teammate John Beierle (Rockford, Ill.) earned third in the 200 fly with a time of 2:03.50. Also finishing third for the Eagles was Matt Baker (Lakewood, Wash.) , who turned in a 48.87 performance in the 100 free.
The women?s team faces Army Sunday (Nov. 21). The meet time is 1 p.m.
