- One of the greatest basketball shooters to wear Boston College's Maroon and Gold, he was the University's first player to score more than 2,000 career points - finishing his stellar varsity career with 2,432.
- One of only two players in Big East Conference history to twice lead the league in scoring: 21.9ppg in 1987-88 and 23.9ppg in 1988-89.
- A deadly outside shooter, he sank 291 career three- point field goals and scored 43 points (9 3-point FGs) in a conference game vs. Pittsburgh (1989). His 824 field goals established a school career standard.
- Big East "Freshman of the Year" in 1985-86; earned All-Conference honors in three subsequent seasons.
- Winner of the Nathaniel J. Hasenfus "Eagle of the Year" Award as outstanding male athlete in his graduating class.
- Played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association where he scored 8,895 career points as a member of the Seattle SuperSonics, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons.
- Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
