CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Eleven of Boston College's athletic programs recorded a perfect multi-year Academic Progress Report (APR) score in a report released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
Â
The school's 11 perfect multi-year team marks are tied for second-best among FBS institutions. Stanford leads the way with 15, followed by Boston College, Notre Dame (11), and Northwestern (11). Duke (10) and North Carolina (10) round out the top six.

Â
Each year, the NCAA tracks the classroom performance of student-athletes on every Division I team through the annual scorecard of academic achievement, known as APR. The score measures eligibility and retention each semester or quarter, and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
Â
The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17 academic years.
Â
Among Atlantic Coast Conference programs that sponsor each sport, nine BC teams recorded the conference's highest APR score: men's cross country, men's fencing, women's fencing, men's golf, women's golf, women's lacrosse, men's swimming & diving, women's tennis, and women's volleyball.
Â
Eighteen of Boston College's teams reported scores achieved marks of 990 or better this past year. Additionally, teams maintained or increased their scores from 2015-16 to 2016-17. The national average for all programs was 983, up from 981 in 2015-16.
Â
Beginning with the 2012-13 championships, teams were required to post a minimum 900 four-year average APR or a 930 average over the most recent two years to be eligible to participate. For 2014-15 championships, teams were required to earn a 930 four-year average APR or a 940 average over the most recent two years to participate in championships. In 2015-16 and beyond, teams must earn a four-year APR of 930 to compete in championships.
Â
Last week, the NCAA recognized 12 of Boston College's teams with the APR Public Recognition Award for their APR ranking among the top 10 percent of their respective sport based on this year's APR figures. Boston College's 12 programs recognized include: men's cross country, football, men's fencing, women's fencing, men's golf, women's golf, lacrosse, men's skiing, women's skiing, men's swimming and diving, women's tennis and volleyball.
