Brendan Doris-Pierce Named Fencing Head Coach

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Brendan Doris-Pierce has been elevated to the role of head coach of Boston College's men's and women's fencing programs, William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond announced today.

"Brendan has demonstrated a passion for and dedication to the development of our fencing student-athletes and the program as a whole," said Jarmond. "I am excited to continue working with him in his new role as head coach."

Doris-Pierce has served as assistant coach for the Eagles since 2011, producing two NCAA Championship qualifiers and nine All-Northeast honorees. He has served as the team's recruiting director for the past five years, increasing the visibility and reach of the program on the national circuit.

"I am honored and humbled to be taking over the program that Syd Fadner built," said Doris-Pierce. I look forward to continuing her legacy of teams built on each student-athlete's commitment to each other and competitive drive as Boston College fencing builds towards being one of the top programs in the country."

Since 2002, Doris-Pierce has served as the sabre coach with the Boston Fencing Club in Brighton, responsible for the technical and tactical development of athletes of all ages. In 2016, Doris-Pierce coached the national championship men's sabre team.

"Having led a national search, which included Olympic-level fencers and coaches, Brendan quickly rose to the top of our list," said JM Caparro, Senior Associate AD, External Relations and fencing sport administrator. "With so much interest in the position given the potential and opportunity to compete against some of the best fencers in the world, we are confident that with Brendan's experience, preparedness and ability to communicate with our student-athletes, he is the perfect fit for this opportunity."
