Eagles Earn Second Place at Colonial Relays

BC finished in second out of 56 total teams
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Boston College women's track and field team finished in second place out of 56 teams with 60 total points at the Colonial Relays at William and Mary this past weekend. Delaware won the meet with 68 points. The Eagles were in seventh place after the second day of competition, but strong performance on day three helped propel BC to a second place finish at the meet.
 
Freshman Miranda Thompson won the 3000 meter run on Thursday, crossing the line in 9:52.73. Senior Julia Barron had a strong showing in the 400 meter hurdles, earning fourth place overall. Classmate Johanna Celli took third in the 400 meter dash on the day. The 4x400 meter relay team also earned a first place finish in the event.
 
BC will race in its third meet of the outdoor season when it travels to Providence, R.I. to participate in the Ocean State Invitational on Friday, April 13.

BC Highlights:
- Thompson won first place in the 3000 meter run, crossing the line in 9:52.73. The rookie was one of only five runners to break 10 minutes.
- Barron took fourth place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.11.
- Freshman Anna Flynn and sophomore Jessica Martin also had a strong showing in the 3000 meter run, finishing the race in 10:04.02 and 10:12.10 respectively, to earn a seventh place and 10th place finish.
- Junior Sarah Marvin and sophomore Mary Kate Vaughn competed in the 10,000 meter run on Thursday. Marvin crossed the line in seventh place with a time of 36:23.10 and Vaughn finished in 10th at 37:26.77.
- Sophomore Julia Lyons was the top BC finisher in the 200 meter dash, running 25.39 and finishing in 28th place in a field of 69 runners.
- Celli took third place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.39.
- Three BC runners finished in the top 20 in the 800 meter run. Senior Shannon Ahern took 13th place, crossing the line in 2:13.84. Junior Gianna Bender was close behind in 15th with a time of 2:14.22. Senior Molly McCabe finished in 19th place at 2:15.01.
- Freshman Emily Criscuolo took 20th place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:39.50.
- Junior Delia Hayes took 13th place in the 5000 meter run, crossing the line in 17:45.73.
- Freshman Jessica Creedon was the top BC finisher in the 100 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 21st place with a time of 14.83.
- The 4x100 meter relay team of Taylor, Lyons, Heil and Celli took fourth place with a time of 49.45.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of Barron, sophomore Monica Heil, Celli and McCabe finished in first place overall, crossing the line in 3:52.05.
- The 4x800 meter relay team of Bender, McCabe, Gregory and Ahern finished in second place, crossing the line in 9:06.02.
- The distance medley realy team of Flynn, Creedon, Criscuolo and Thompson earned a third place finish with a time of 12:13.95.
- In the field events, sophomore Abigail Gothers and Creedon competed in the high jump. Both women tied for third place, clearing 1.60 meters.
- Lyons took fourth place in the long jump, jumping 5.54 meters.
