BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team defeated No. 13/9 Florida State, 1-0, in game one of the day behind a complete-game, eight-strikeout performance by redshirt junior Allyson Frei. The Eagles fell in game two, 5-4, despite out-hitting the Seminoles, 12-3, ending their historic winning streak at 13 games.
The Eagles scored the only run of game one when junior Lexi DiEmmanuele hit a fly ball that was misplayed by the FSU left fielder, allowing junior Carly Seveirni to score from first.
BC took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two behind back-to-back doubles by seniors Chloe Sharabba and Annie Murphy and an RBI single by freshman CC Cook. A two-run home run by Murphy in the second gave the Eagles a 4-0 advantage. Senior Jessica Dreswick held the Seminoles hit-less through five innings, but FSU pieced together five runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead that it would hold for the remainder of the game.
The pitching staff of Frei and Dreswick held Florida State scoreless through 12 innings before allowing a run. The Seminoles entered the day 32nd in the nation in team batting average at .307, but Frei and Dreswick allowed only a combined three earned runs and together struck out 16 batters.
The Eagles' lineup out-hit the Seminoles, 16-5, on the day. The win against the Seminoles in game one was the first victory vs. FSU since 2008.
The Eagles look for their fourth straight series win when they host No.13/9 Florida State at the Brighton Athletic Village for the third game of the series tomorrow, April 14 at 2:30 p.m.

A walk by Cali Harrod followed by a single by Carsyn Gordon put a runner on first and second for FSU with nobody out. Two batters later, Jesse Warren was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Zoe Cases reached on a fielder's choice, and an error by Chimento allowed two runs to score. Elizabeth Mason reached on another fielder's choice and Deja Bush scored on a catcher's interference. A double by Leslie Farris plated Mason and Korina Rosario, giving FSU a 5-4 advantage that it would hold for the remainder of the game.

BC Highlights:
- The Eagles' winning streak ended at 13 games with a loss to FSU in game two. The win streak broke the program record of 10 straight wins that was set back in 1995. BC defeated St. Johns, Fairfield, Brown, Villanova and Seton Hall during that streak.
- During the winning streak, BC recorded a .296 team batting average and scored 85 runs. The team collected 97 hits, including six home runs. BC also drew 62 walks during the streak, posting a .423 team on base percentage. Dreswick and Frei had a combined 1.47 ERA during the streak and allowed just 18 earned runs.
- During the 13 games, three batters have posted batting averages over .400. Cook was batting a team-leading .415, Murphy batted .409 and freshman Emme Martinez posted a .407 average.
- Frei threw her eighth complete game of the season and the 33rd of her career in game one. She is now in eighth place in the BC record books in complete games. The right-hander also threw her fourth shutout of the season and the 11th shutout of her career, putting her in third place in BC history. The redshirt junior allowed only two hits to a Seminoles team that entered the game batting .307, which is good for 32nd in the nation. She struck out eight batters, marking the fourth time this season that she has struck out eight or more batters in a single game.
- The win against FSU in game one marked the second time this season that BC defeated a ranked opponent. The first time was against No. 18 Ole Miss on March 6.
- Florida State entered the day 19th in the nation with 6.17 runs scored per game. The pitching staff held the Seminoles scoreless through 12 innings of play. Florida State had only been shut-out five times before today.
- The one-run win in game two is fourth one-run game that BC has won this season.
- Dreswick held Florida State hit-less through five innings. She finished the game with a complete seven innings pitched, allowing only three hits and recording eight strikeouts.
- BC out-hit the Seminoles in game two, 12-3. The Eagles are 4-11 when out-hit by the opponent.
- With a hit in each game, Murphy extended her hitting streak to 10 games. She finished four-for seven on the day with one double, one home run, and a team-leading three RBIs. Murphy now has 10 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games. She has reached base safely in 14 straight games and has recorded a hit in 10 consecutive contests.
- Martinez was four-for-five on the day with four hits and two walks. She has now reached base safely in 10 straight games.
- Sharabba was three-for-seven in both games with one triple and two runs scored.

Freshman Emma Martinez singled to right field to put runners on the corners for BC. Rookie CC Cook singled up the middle, plating Murphy and giving BC a 2-0 advantage.
- With one out, Sharabba hit a double over the head of the FSU shortstop. Murphy hit a deep home run to left center to put BC up 4-0.
- BC threatened again in the fifth inning when Severini hit a one-out single to left center field. DiEmmanuele drew a walk to put runners on first and second for BC with one out. A ground out by senior Jordan Chimento allowed both runners to advance a base, but the Eagles were unable to drive them home.
- Harrod drew a walk to lead off the sixth inning. Gordon singled to center field to put runners on first and second for FSU. Both runners advanced on a foul out to left field by Sydney Sherrill. Jesse Warren was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Casas hit a grounder back to the pitcher and Dreswick tried to get the out at home, but Chimento misplayed the ball and Harrod and Gordon both scored on the play. Mason reached on a fielder's choice as BC again tried to tag the runner out at home, but an obstruction call allowed Bush, who came in to pinch run for Warren, to score. Farris hit a double to left field, plating Mason and Rosario, who pinch ran for Casas, to score as FSU took a 5-4 lead.
- Sharabba blasted a triple to deep right center field to put a runner at third base for BC with only one out. Martinez drew a walk, putting the winning run on base, but the Eagles were unable to score.
BC will play the third and final game of the series against No. 13/9 Florida State tomorrow, April 14 at 2:30 p.m. The Harrington Athletics Village dedication ceremony will take place before the game.
