- Saturday's game will feature a postgame Senior Day ceremony to recognize the Eagles' six graduating seniors: Carly Bell, Tess Chandler, Kaileen Hart, Caroline Peters, Emma Schurr and Tara Schurr who are playing their final season in Maroon & Gold
- Last time out, the Eagles notched their 15th consecutive victory with their 13-11 victory over No. 17 Dartmouth, extending the longest win streak in program history ... the Eagles finshed their non-conference schedule with a perfect 10-0 record after the win over the Big Green
- On Saturday, the Eagles have a chance to win at least a share of the ACC Regular-Season Championship ... a victory against Virginia Tech would push BC to 6-0 in league play and earn the team its first-ever conference title
- The Eagles' 15 wins have tied the program's second-highest single-season win total, which was reached in both 2014 and 2015 ... the record was set last year in 2017: 17 wins ... a win Saturday would give the Eagles 16 wins, a new second-highest total
- With five ACC wins so far, BC has matched its best-ever conference win total ... Boston College went 5-2 in ACC play in 2015, which is also the most wins in any year of the Eagles' conference play - ACC (2006 to present) or BIG EAST (2001-05)
- Senior captain Carly Bell is the ACC's reigning Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Eagles' defense that held No. 16 Duke to just eight goals last Saturday, and also limited the Blue Devils' top three scorers to a single assist ... she also collected a career-high three caused turnovers
- Sam Apuzzo leads the nation in points (87), is second in goals (59) and ranks 16th in assists (28) ... Dempsey Arsenault is ranked eighth in points (66) and ninth in goals (47) ... Kaileen Hart ranks 21st in points (56) and 31st in assists (23)
- While the Eagles' offense ranks second nationally averaging 16.67 goals per game, BC's defense is ranked No. 11 nationally with a 9.07 goals allowed per game mark ... the Eagles have allowed 12 or fewer goals in 13 of 15 games, and 9 or fewer goals in seven games
- Sam Apuzzo and Dempsey Arsenault have combined for 162 of BC's 247 draw controls this season ... Apuzzo's 88 DCs so far are a career high and are second most in a single-season in BC history - just 11 back of Brittany Wilton's program record 99 in 2011 ... Arsenault's 74 DCs so far represent the fourth-highest single-season total ... both have set the school single-game DC record this year, first Apuzzo at 11 then Arsenault with 12 on March 17
- Tess Chandler comes into Saturday's game with 99 career goals ... her next goal will be the 100th of her career
- Apuzzo comes into the weekend with 231 career points and is fifth on the Eagles' career scoring chart, 17 points back of fourth place (Lauren Costello '10, 248 pts.)
- BC's 2018 schedule is currently the ninth toughest in the nation as its opponents have a combined .624 winning percentage ... BC's past schedule ranks 19th toughest in the nation, but its upcoming schedule ranks 11th-hardest as future opponents have a combined .655 winning percentage
- Seven Eagles were recognized by Inside Lacrosse in the publication's Midseason All-America rankings ... Apuzzo, Arsenault and Elizabeth Miller all garnered first-team honors, while Lauren Daly, Carly Bell, Hannah Hyatt and Brooke Troy all earned honorable mention recognition
SERIES HISTORY
- BC is 13-5 all-time against Virginia Tech ... included in that total is a 7-1 mark at home, a 4-4 record on the road and a 2-0 mark in neutral games in the 2011 and 2013 ACC Tournaments
- BC won seven straigh games between 2011 and 2016 before VTech earned an 18-12 victory in Blacksburg last year to snap the Eagles' run
- Virginia Tech's only win in Newton came in 2001 in the teams' first-ever game, which was also their first-ever Big East meeting
- Six of the 18 games have been decided by two goals or fewer, including two OT decisions
- BC's first-ever win in the series came on April 6, 2002 - a 16-15 overtime win in Blacksburg
LAST TIME VS. VIRGINIA TECH
- The teams last met on February 15, 2017 in Blacksburg as the Hokies took an 18-12 win ... it was VTech's ACC opener and the Eagles' second league game
- Kaileen Hart opened the scoring of the game, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead at 25:17
- Virginia Tech responded with two goals in the minutes following Hart's goal to take a 2-1 lead
- Boston College scored four of the next five goals as Kate Weeks notched three and Sam Apuzzo tallied her first of the day in the run
- In the final five minutes of the half, the Eagles and Hokies each tallied twice and BC went into the half leading, 7-6
- Out of the half, Virginia Tech out-scored the Eagles 6-1 in the first 10 minutes to take a four-goal lead, 12-8
- BC cut the lead to one, but Virginia Tech tallied two goals to grow the advantage with 14:07 left to play.
- BC trailed by two goals with 8:09 left to play, but Virginia Tech added four goals to its lead to secure the victory
A TITLE IS IN SIGHT
- The Eagles equaled their best performance in conference play - ever - with last Saturday's win at Duke, posting their fifth ACC win of the year
- It matched BC's prior best finish in league action - ACC or BIG EAST - a 5-2 mark in 2015
- The Eagles come into this Saturday's game with a 5-0 record in ACC play ... win would give BC its best-ever conference win total
- Further, this year, the Eagles have posted a winning mark in league play for just the third time in program history (2013, 2015)
SATURDAY IS FOR HARDWARE
- A victory Saturday would assure the Eagles at least a share of the 2018 ACC Regular-Season title
- It would be the Boston College Athletic Department's second-ever regular-season title in ACC play, and the first since the women's soccer team earned a share of the 2009 title
- Overall, it would be the 23rd regular-season title ever at BC as men's hockey has won 16 Hockey East regular-season titles and women's hockey has won the last five HEA regular-season crowns
- A potential lacrosse trophy this year would be the third regular-season title by BC in 2017-18 as both hockey teams won the in-season Hockey East regular-season titles this year
MOST SUCCESSFUL SENIORS
- The Eagles' six graduating seniors have cemented their status as the winningest class in program history
- Carly Bell, Tess Chandler, Kaileen Hart, Caroline Peters, Emma Schurr and Tara Schurr have been part of a record 57 wins so far in four years
- The Eagles have advanced to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances and led the team to its best finishes in the ACC regular season, ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament
- Prior to the Class of 2018, the Classes of 2016 and 2017 shared the designation as the program's winningest, each posting 52 wins over their respective four seasons
WINNING WAYS
- The Eagles' 15 wins so far this season have already tied the program's second-highest single-season victory mark, originally set in 2014 and 2015

- This week marked the first release of the D1 women's lacrosse RPI
- Boston College appears at No. 3 on the inaugural release, behind Maryland at No. 1 and North Carolina at No. 2
- James Madison and Florida round out the top 5
- All seven ACC programs appear in the Top 30 of the rankings
- The RPI helps the NCAA Committee select the at-large berths to the annual NCAA Tournament ... the D1 women's lacrosse tournament field is made up 26 teams: 13 automatic qualifiers as conference tournament champions and 13 at-large selections
