Eagles set to close out the spring Saturday with the Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College football team held its final practice of the spring Thursday before Saturday's Jay McGillis Memorial Spring Game at Alumni Stadium. The Eagles practiced for just over 90 minutes without pads Thursday.
Â
Saturday's spring game will begin at 11:30 a.m. inside Alumni Stadium. The game will feature 15-minute quarters in the first half and 10-minute quarters in the second half with a running clock. The first-team offense will face the second-team defense while the second-team offense will square off against the first-team defense Saturday. It will be thud-contact and no full-go tackling on either side of the ball.
Â
The day's activities begin at 9 a.m. with a Youth Clinic. Â
(RSVP Link:Â Â http://bceagles.com/sb_output.aspx?form=69 Â ).
Â
The FanFest runs from 9 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. with inflatables, face painters and prizes for fans right outside Alumni Stadium. Following the game, the players will be available for autographs.
Â
Merchandise and concessions will be open throughout the game at Alumni Stadium.
Practice Notes: Los Angeles Rams safety and former BC standout John Johnson was in attendance at practice Thursday and spoke to the team following practice. 2017 Scanlan Award recipient Charlie Callinan was also on hand at Thursday's practice … the defense was active Thursday with four interceptions during team work … number changes this spring for players in Saturday's spring game include defensive back Nolan Borgersen wearing No. 19, offensive tackle Nate Emer wearing No. 71 and offensive lineman Adam Korutz wearing No. 69 … Saturday could see BC rest several of its marquee players who have either been limited this spring or have already earned a bulk of reps already over the previous 14 practices … BC's three New Hampshire natives (Chris Garrison, Hunter Long, Drew McQuarrie) were interviewed by WMUR-9 following practice Thursday. Garrison returns as one of two starters at tight end in 2018 while Long and McQuarrie have enjoyed breakout performances this spring for the Eagles. All three players should see the field this fall for BC.
