The two Eagles had shining performances last week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior lacrosse player Sam Apuzzo and freshman left fielder Chris Galland have been tabbed Nissan Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.
Apuzzo scored 14 points in the Eagles two victories over No. 11 Navy and Binghamton last week. The junior scored nine goals in the contest against Navy, breaking the BC single-game program record for goals and leading the team to a 20-14 victory. She also tallied an assist versus the Midshipman to finish the contest with 10 points. The attacker scored another four goals against Binghamton, including the game winner to secure a 14-2 win for BC.
Galland led the Eagles with a 6-for-9 weekend, scoring six runs and stealing four bases. He was the first BC player to steal multiple bases in a single game, swiping three in the victory against Niagara on Friday. He also recorded a double, three RBIs and was perfect in the field. His current five-game hit streak is a career long and tied for the longest on the team in the young season.
The women's lacrosse team looks for its eighth win of the season today when they play at USC in Los Angeles, Calif. The baseball team returns to action when it plays Wofford tomorrow, March 7, at noon.
