
Dreswick Throws Perfect Game as Eagles Win Two Over Virginia

Freshman CC Cook finished five-for-five on the day with two triples
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Boston College softball team defeated Virginia, 8-0, in five innings behind a perfect game by senior Jessica Dreswick in game one. The Eagles came back in the second game of the day to defeat the Cavaliers 10-6 and earn their first two ACC wins of the 2018 campaign.

BC took a commanding 5-0 lead in the second inning of game one on a pair of singles by senior Jordan Chimento and junior Lexi DiEmmanuele. A bases-clearing triple by senior Annie Murphy followed by a double by freshman Cami Sellers put the Maroon and Gold up 5-0. The Eagles would tack on three more runs over the next three innings to run-rule the Cavaliers. Dreswick held Virginia hitless and did not allow any walks in her perfect-game performance to secure the shutout victory for the Eagles.

The two teams battled back and forth in the second game of the day, each taking turns holding the lead. After loading the bases in the fifth inning, the Eagles scored two runs on a walk and a fielder's choice to take a lead that they would hold for the remainder of the game. A triple by freshman CC Cook in the sixth followed by a pair of singles by Chimento and sophomore Olivia Markopoulos and a double by senior Chloe Sharabba helped BC claim a 10-6 victory and improve to 2-3 in the conference.Â
Cook was perfect at the plate on the day as she finished five-for-five with two triples, a team-leading six runs scored, one RBI and two walks.

- Dreswick threw the first perfect game of her career in game one as she did not allow a hit or a walk through five innings and recorded seven strikeouts. Ths is the fifth time this season that she has thrown seven strikeouts or more in a single game. The right-hander has now thrown both the first ACC no-hitter in program history and the first perfect game. The game is also believed to be the first perfect game in BC hisotory. Dreswick no-hit NC State on April 23, 2016 to claim only the second-overall no-hitter in program history. She pitched her eighth complete game of the season and her 36th career complete game. She is now in sole possession of seventh place in the BC record books in complete games. Her eight career shutouts is good for third place in BC history.
- Cook finished five-for-five on the day with two triples. Her triple in the third inning of game one was the first of her career. She also scored a team-leading six runs and picked up one RBI and two walks on the day. Cook also extended her hitting streak to five games.
- Sharabba was second on the team with four hits on the day, including one double and one triple. The senior has collected a hit in 19 of the 26 games this season and has reached base safely in 22 of the 26 games. She continues to lead the team in walks with 13 and runs scored with 18 as she plated two more runs on the day. Sharabba also leads the team in multi-hit games with 10.
- Chimento picked up three hits on the day to collect her first multi-hit game of the season.
- DiEmmanuele extended her hitting streak to six games with two more hits on the day, including one double.
- Murphy picked up her first triple of the season and the second of her career.
- In the second game of the day, redshirt junior Allyson Frei threw 3.1 innings, allowing just one hit, one walk and no runs.
- Markopoulos got her first hit of the season with a single to the pitcher in game two.
- The 13 hits recorded by the Eagles in game two are the most recorded by the team in a single game this season. They recorded 12 against Duke on March 17.

Sharabba drew a walk to put runners on first and second with two out. DiEmmanuele hit a single up the middle to score Chimento. Murphy shot a bases-clearing triple into left field to put the Eagles up 4-0. Sellers blasted a double to center field to score Murphy and give BC a commanding 5-0 lead.
- Cook led off the third inning with a triple to right center field. Markopoulos drew a walk to put runners on the corners for BC with nobody out. Junior Allyson Moore grounded out to second base to score Cook and put the Eagles up 6-0.
- Junior Carly Severini walked to lead off the fifth inning. Cook picked up a single to second base, putting runners on first and second with no out. Markopoulos reached on an error by the Virginia shortstop to load the bases. Moore drew a walk to force home one run. Murphy advanced on a wild pitch and Sellers drew a walk. Both base runners advanced a bag on another wild pitch. Severini picked up a single to center field to score Murphy and put runner on the corners. Cook hit a single through the right side, driving in Sellers and putting BC up 3-0 early in the game.
- Olivia Gott led off the second inning with a walk and Ashlee Davis singled to the pitcher to put runners on first and second with nobody out. Erika Osherow doubled to center field to score both runs. Osherow then scored on a throwing error to tie the game at 3-3.
- Sharabba led off the bottom of the inning with a triple to center field and scored on an error by the Virginia shortstop to give BC a 4-3 advantage.
- Cook drew a walk in the third inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Moore. Cook advanced to third on a passed ball and a single up the middle by Sharabba drove in the run to put BC up 5-3.
- Gott led off the fourth inning with a walk as Davis reached base on a fielder's choice to put a runner on first for Virginia with one out. Osherow singled to third base to advance Davis a bag. Both base runners advanced another base on a ground out. Kate Covington blasted a bases-clearing triple to right field to score two runs. Allison Davis hit a single to left field to drive home Covington and put the Cavaliers up 6-5.
- Cook led off the fifth inning with a single to center field. Moore singled to second base to put runners on first and second with nobody out.
