NEWTON, Mass. – The No. 5 Boston College lacrosse team tallied its fourth straight win over No. 19 Massachusetts, 16-9, Wednesday afternoon on home turf.

This is the second victory of the season that has come against a ranked opponent and BC's first 4-0 start to a season since 2015 when the Eagles went 10-0 to open the season.

UMass (1-1, 0-0 Atlantic 10) notched the first goal of the game early, but it was quickly answered by junior Dempsey Arsenault. The Eagles then pulled into the lead as senior Emma Schurr secured her third goal of the season.
The Eagles (4-0, 1-0 ACC) never faltered, holding the lead from E. Schurr's goal on. For the second straight game, Arsenault led BC in scoring with four goals – one short of her career high, which she notched in the previous game. Junior Sam Apuzzo also had four goals on the afternoon with the first one coming with five minutes left in the first frame.

Eight different Eagles scored in the triumph while junior goalie Lauren Daly slated her fourth win. She had eight saves, while adding the defense and picking up two ground balls.

 - In her fourth career appearance, freshman Jordan Lappin netted not only her first collegiate goal, but her first three.
- In addition to Lappin, both Arsenault and Apuzzo had their third hat tricks of the season, each leading the Eagles with four goals.
- Apuzzo matched her career high in draw controls, winning eight against UMass. She's done this on two other occasions, the last coming last season against Yale.
- Three Eagles have scored in all four games so far: Apuzzo, senior Tess Chandler and senior Kaileen Hart.
- BC outshot UMass 32-22 and won more draw controls, 16-11.

- The Minutewomen scored the first goal of the game, but goals from Arsenault and E. Schurr took a swift lead for the Eagles. UMass couldn't play catch up, despite their strong offensive presence in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMass opened the scoreboard with a quick goal, but Arsenault quickly tied up the game with a goal assisted by T. Schurr at 25:13 in the first frame.
- E. Schurr secured the advantage for BC with the third goal of the game, which the Eagles held going into the half.
- The Minutewomen gave the Eagles a scare after scoring three consecutive goals to start the second half, but Lappin answered with her third goal on the game.
- UMass was able to add another goal with 14:20 left to play, but BC end the game on a 3-0 run, sealing the 16-9 victory for Maroon and Gold.
