Haverhals earns honors for third straight year
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College juniors Ymke Rose Gote, Frederique Haverhals and Lucy Lytle were named to the 2017 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Academic Team, the league announced on Friday morning.
Â
Haverhals was one of seven ACC players to earn the honor for the third straight year. This was the second year Gote was awarded the academic honor and it was the first time Lytle made the team.
Â
All three Eagles were named to the ACC Honor Roll as freshmen and sophomores. Lytle is a two-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Squad, while Haverhals earned a spot on the squad last season.
Â
Gote and Haverhals, captains in 2017, earned NFHCA Third-Team All-America honors, First-Team Northeast All-Region honors and were on the All-ACC Second Team. They were tied for second on the Eagles with five assists each and both scored two goals to notch nine points.
Â
Lytle was an NFHCA Second-Team Northeast All-Region honoree. She tied for second on the team with five goals and was third with 12 points, adding two assists on the season.
Â
Louisville's Nicole Woods was named the 2017 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. All seven ACC field hockey programs were represented on the All-ACC Academic Team. Twelve were named All-Americans following the 2017 season, while 15 were voted All-ACC, including Gote and Haverhals.
Â
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
