
Pineau’s 23 Points Leads Eagles to Victory over Pittsburgh

Sophomore Georgia Pineau scored a career-high 23 points in the victory
Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College women's basketball team defeated ACC opponent, Pittsburgh, 72-61, on Sunday afternoon at Conte Forum behind a team-leading 23 points by sophomore Georgia Pineau.
The Eagles improved to 7-18 overall and 2-10 in the ACC while Pittsburgh dropped to 10-15 overall and 2-10 in the conference. The 72 points scored mark the most points scored by BC since Jan. 4 versus North Carolina.
BC entered the second half of the game trailing, 34-30, but turned it around with a 7-0 run in the beginning of the third quarter. Pineau scored 17 of her 23 points in the second half and contributed 10 points in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter to propel the Eagles to victory over the Panthers.
BC shot 46 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the free throw line. The Eagles forced 19 turnovers grabbed 33 rebounds on the day.

- Pineau finished with a career-high 23 points and went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. The sophomore forward also grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.
- Sophomore Taylor Ortlepp added 13 points, three assists and two rebounds.
- Freshman Milan Bolden-Morris contributed 15 points, including three treys.
- BC had just three turnovers in the second half.
- The Eagles went to the foul line a season-high 32 times and made 25.
- Pittsburgh opened the game on a 9-4 run to take an early lead over the Eagles. Jacine Diop and Kalista Walters chipped in with eight and four points apiece in the quarter. A three-pointer by freshman Milan Bolden-Morris and a jumper from graduate Andie Anastos (11 points, 6 rebounds) pulled the Eagles within five as BC ended the first quarter trailing 20-15.
- The Panthers scored the opening baskets of the second quarter, but BC went on a 10-0 run behind four points from freshman Sydney Lowery. A jumper by Ortlepp with 3:14 to play in the half gave BC a 28-26 lead. Pittsburgh closed the half with back-to-back treys to take a 34-30 lead heading into the locker room.
- Pittsburgh went on a 6-0 scoring run in the middle of the third quarter to go up 41-36 with just under six minutes to play. BC responded with a 7-0 run that included a three-pointer by Pineau and a pair of free throws from Anastos, giving BC a 43-42 advantage with 4:13 left in the quarter. The Eagles finished the quarter on an 8-3 run, but a three-pointer by Kyla Nelson tied the score at 49-49 heading into the fourth.
- The Eagles opened the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run behind five points from Pineau, to take a 57-49 lead with just under eight minutes to play. BC would go on to make nine free throws in the remainder of the game. Pineau contributed five more points and Ortlepp made five shots of her own from the charity stripe as BC claimed a 72-61 victory over Pittsburgh.
