Prinzbach comes to The Heights from the Ivy League Conference
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Marissa Prinzbach has been named assistant volleyball coach as announced Thursday by head coach Jason Kennedy. The Cincinnati, Ohio native comes to The Heights after a year-long stretch as an assistant coach at Dartmouth.
Â
"Marissa has all the tools I was looking for in an assistant coach and is someone that I'm excited to be building this program with," said Kennedy. "Her background and coaching philosophy fit in perfectly with what Boston College is all about and I have no doubt that she will help to foster a culture and create a positive experience for our athletes. She is an excellent and efficient communicator, takes the time to get to know her athletes and cares about their development on and off the court."
Â
At Dartmouth, Prinzbach was responsible for managing the offense, which included training the program's only Ivy League All Conference player in 2017. She also served as the Big Green's Recruiting Coordinator, managing coordination and communication with all incoming committed recruits and prospects.
Â
Before her time with Dartmouth, Prinzbach was a graduate assistant coach at Franklin Pierce. She was involved in designing practices and scouting reports, breaking down film, responsible for travel arrangements and fundraising while serving as the team's lone assistant coach. The Ravens concluded the season with an overall record of 12-15 and were 8-6 in Northeast 10 play, reaching the Quarterfinal of the conference championship before being eliminated.
Â
Prinzbach was a starting setter at UConn (2012-14) and SUNY – Buffalo (2014-16). She was an integral part of both teams, leading the Huskies in assists (1,221) as a sophomore and had a career-high 58 assists twice and her two years at Storrs. At Buffalo, she produced over 50 assists in a single match twice throughout her first year. She concluded her collegiate career with a total of 3,518 assists – 2.095 coming at UConn and the other 1.423 at Buffalo.
Off the court Marissa was involved in her school community as she was a four-year team representative and community service coordinator of each University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Prinzbach graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Buffalo in 2016 and is working toward completing her Masters of Business Administration in Sports Management at Franklin Pierce.
