Eagles' freshman earns Hockey East honors after a four-assist week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey freshman forward Maegan Beres earned Hockey East's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors from the conference on Monday. The Whistler, British Columbia, product led all conference freshman in scoring last week, posting four assists in the Eagles' three victories. Â

In Tuesday's 6-2 win over Harvard, Beres recorded her first-career multiple-point game with three assists, a career high. Her total included the set-up of Makenna Newkirk's game-winning goal.

On Friday in the Eagles' 2-1 overtime win over Vermont, Beres recorded an assist on Serena Sommerfield's game-winning goal in the added session.

Saturday in the second game against UVM, while held pointless, Beres had the two key screens in front of Vermont goaltender Sydney Scobee that led to a pair of Toni Ann Miano goals in the third period, capping the Eagles' 2-1 comeback victory.

On the season, Beres has 12 points from two goals and 10 assists.

This is Beres' first Hockey East rookie of the week award, and the Eagles' sixth weekly rookie award this season.

The second-ranked Boston College women's hockey team (22-2-3, 15-1-3 HEA) returns to the ice Friday, Jan. 26, when the Eagles host No. 8 Providence at Kelley Rink. Faceoff is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be streamed live on ESPN3, which is available on WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.
