How It Happened
Despite a furious finish - cutting an 18-point deficit with 3:57 to play to a two-point game with 33 seconds to play - Boston College dropped a 77-69 decision at Louisville.
After two free throws apiece from Vin Baker Jr. and Nik Popovic made it 67-53 with 2:17 left, the Eagles connected on three straight 3-pointers. The 3-ball from Jordan Chatman made it 67-62 with 1:04 to play. Chatman drained another trifecta with 33 seconds left, making it 71-69 - a 12-2 run. Louisville would seal the victory at the charity stripe, making 6-of-6 over the final 29 seconds as BC could get no closer.
The first half featured six ties and eight lead changes, as the two teams traded runs. The Cardinals used a 7-0 push early on to take an 11-5 lead with 14:38 left in the period. BC would respond with a 12-0 run over the next 5:12, extending to a six-point advantage after a Popovic jumper made it 17-11 with 9:24 to go. UofL's 8-2 push tied it at 19-19 and neither team gained more than a three-point lead over the final 6:43 of the half. Louisville led 31-29 at the break.
