Richardson Out Indefinitely; Strachan Ruled Out for Season
September 28, 2017 | Football
BC returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. Central Michigan
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior linebacker Connor Strachan, who has been out indefinitely, has now been ruled out for the season with a knee injury. In addition, sophomore middle linebacker Max Richardson is out indefinitely with a knee injury suffered in the first half at No. 2 Clemson on Sept. 23, 2017.
Â
Strachan will be eligible for a medical redshirt in 2017 and be able to return to the Eagles as a fifth-year senior next season. Strachan collected All-ACC honorable mention honors in 2016 and returned as one of the top defensive players in the nation in 2017. The Wellesley native injured his knee prior to the NIU game and played in the team's first two games before the injury forced him to be out for the year.
Â
For his career, Strachan has played in 39 career games, including 20 starts. He led BC with 80 tackles in 2016.
Â
Richardson has blossomed as a first-year starter at middle linebacker for the Eagles. In four games, Richardson totaled 23 tackles, including seven in the first half at Clemson prior to his injury.
Â
With the season-ending injury to Strachan and Richardson now being out indefinitely, BC is without three of its top six linebackers from the start of preseason camp. Sharrieff Grice was forced to retire due to injury in August.
