
Vaughn Fuels Win Over No. 18 Wake Forest

Bryant records her fifth shutout of the season.
NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team defeated No. 18 ranked ACC competitor Wake Forest, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.
Boston College is now 8-4-0 and 2-1-0 in the ACC. Wake Forest is now 8-2-1 and 2-1-0 in the ACC, this being their first conference play loss.
Following a scoreless first half in which the Eagles outshot the Demon Deacons 9-4, the teams were tired under the bright sun. In the 74th minute, sophomore forward Olivia Vaughn brought the ball behind Wake Forest's defenders and into the net to score the lone goal of the game.
This was goalkeeper Alexis Bryant's fifth shutout on the season. She stopped Wake Forest's three shots on goal, including a final shot in the 89th minute.

- Boston College had two big chances in the scoreless first half, including a header from redshirt senior Lauren Berman in the 23rd minute and a shot from rookie Sam Coffey that bounced off the crossbar in the 33rd minute.
- In the 42nd minute, Vaughn puts the ball in the back of the net, but is called offsides and the goal is called off.
- GOAL: BC 1, Wake Forest 0 – 74th min: Sophomore Olivia Vaughn dribbled the ball up the left side through Wake Forest's defense, shooting under the goalie to put the ball in the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season.
- Down by a goal, the Demon Deacons attempted to rally in the 89th minute. Freshman Sofia Rossi took a shot, but Bryant made a diving save for the shutout victory.
