Oilers' draft pick looks to bolster BC offense in 17-18
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -Â Boston College will now have three members from Team Finland skating with the maroon and gold after Aapeli Rasanen rounds out the remaining forwards for the 2017-18 recruiting class.

Rasanen, a native of Tampere, Finland, is the same hometown as the Mattila twins, Julius and Jesper. In fact, Rasanen joined the Mattilas at World Juniors in Canada this past year as a member of Team Finland. At World Juniors, Rasanen finished with the top faceoff percentage in the tournament (66.97 percent).

As a whole in 2016-17, the Fin logged 25 points (7-18-25) for the Sioux City Musketeers and doled out an assist in the playoffs.

Before coming to the states, in 2015-16, Rasanen was the assistant captain for Tappara U20 where he tallied 38 points (19-19-38) in 50 games. In that same season, the 6-foot-0 center was a member of the gold medal-winning Team Finland at the World U-18 Hockey Challenge. Rasanen accounted for three goals and six assists in seven tournament games.

In 2014-15, Rasanen was dubbed the assistant captain and gained 12 points (5-7-12). His international experience got off the floor at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge

In 2016, Rasanen was selected in the sixth round, 153rd overall, by the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL Entry Draft.
