Eagles’ sophomore honored for two-way play in opening weekend
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College defender/midfielder Younes Boudadi has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference's first men's soccer Defensive Player of the Week of the 2017 season.
The sophomore from Ypres, Belgium, started both games during opening weekend and played 162 minutes as Boston College beat Quinnipiac and Boston University by identical 4-0 scores. The clean sheets marked the first back-to-back shutouts for the program since 2014 and the first to open a season since 1978.
On Friday, Boudadi helped the BC defense hold Quinnipiac's leading scorer Eamon Whelan without a shot, and helped the Eagle defense limited the Terriers to just three total shots on goal on Sunday.
Boudadi also chipped in offensively, recording three assists on the weekend including setting up both game-winning goals.
This the Eagles' first ACC player of the week nod since now-junior Trevor Davock won Offensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 1, 2016.
Boston College (2-0) returns to the field on Friday, Sept. 1, when the team hosts New Hampshire at 4 p.m. at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
