The Eagles finish the summer strong
Many members of the Boston College baseball team spent their summers playing baseball across the country.Â
Jake Alu (Jr., UT) - Bourne Braves, Cape Cod Baseball League
Alu played in eight games before an injury cut short his summer. He recorded five hits, including a double, four runs, an RBI, four walks and two stolen bases.
Dante Baldelli (So., OF) - New Bedford Bay Sox, New England Collegiate Baseball League
Baldelli finished summer with 18 hits, including four doubles, 11 runs, six RBIs and 15 walks. The Bay Sox went 17-27 in the NECBL.
Austin Batchelor (So., RHP) - North Shore Navigators, Futures Collegiate Baseball League
Batchelor made six appearances for the Navigators, throwing a total of five relief innings. He has struck out three, allowed seven hits and recorded one save. The Navs were 21-32 on the season.
Mitch Bigras (Sr., 1B/LHP) - Kalamazoo Growlers, Northwoods League
Bigras started the summer on the Cape with a temporary contract. He logged three hits, including a double, two runs, four walks, two sacrifice hits and a stolen base over seven games with the Cotuit Kettlers. In 91 at bats for the Growlers, he logged 27 hits, including eight doubles and a home run, 10 RBIs, 17 runs and 17 walks. He saw action seven times on the mound, logged 13.1 innings, allowing 14 hits and just two walks while striking out eight. Kalamazoo went 28-44 on the season. Â
Jack Cunningham (So., UT/RHP) - Baltimore Redbirds, Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League
Cunningham batted .296 for the Redbirds, including .318 during the regular season. He logged 37 hits, including seven doubles and two home runs, 15 RBIs, 14 walks and stole 12 bases. Baltimore lost the Cal Ripken League championship series, 2-1. Cunningham  logged two hits, two runs, two RBIs, seven walks and one stolen base in the playoffs. The righty also made six appearances on the mound over the summer. He was 1-0 with a save. In the playoffs, he threw two innings, struck out two and walked one without allowing a hit or run.
Brian Dempsey (So., INF) -Â Baltimore Redbirds, Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League
Dempsey played 11 games with the Redbirds before an injury sidelined him in mid-June. He was batting .286 with 10 hits, including two doubles, nine runs, three RBIs, five walks and a stolen base.
Carmen Giampetruzzi (Sr., LHP) - Edenton Steamers, Coastal Plain League
Giampetruzzi finished the summer leading the Coastal Plain League with nine saves, 17 games finished andtied for the league lead with 24 appearances. He logged a 3.81 ERA and a 3-3 record for the Steamers, throwing 28.1 innings of relief. The left-hander allowed 20 hits, 17 runs, 12 earned and 16 walks while striking out 41. Opponent batted just .187 against Giampetruzzi, who was named a CPL All-Star at the mid-summer break. The Steamers finished 32-27 and earned a trip to the East Division Finals.
Matt Gill (So, RHP) - Keene Swamp Bats, New England Collegiate Baseball League
Gill made 11 appearances for the Swamp Bats with 22 strikeouts, 10 walks and 25 hits. Keene went 20-24.
Mikey Giordano (So., RHP) - Sanford River Rats, Florida Collegiate Summer League
Giordano made 10 appearances for the River Rats with one start. He threw 11.2 innings, allowing 11 hits and seven strikeouts. Sanford won the Florida League title, finishing the summer 33-12 and breaking the league's win record.
Jake Goodreau (So., C) - Purcellville Cannons, Valley Baseball League
Goodreau logged eight hits, three RBIs and eight walks for the Cannons. He drew a walk in the Valley Baseball League's walk-off win over the Ripken Collegiate League in the Southern Collegiate Showcase. The Cannons went 26-17, falling in the VBL playoffs. Goodreau had four at bats in postseason baseball.
Jack Hodgson (Fr., RHP) - Worcester Bravehearts, Futures Collegiate Baseball League
Incoming freshman Hodgson made four starts for the Bravehearts, going 1-0 with a 3.44 ERA. He struck out 17, walked 12 and allowed 16 hits over 15.2 innings.
Sean Hughes (Jr., RHP) -Â Edenton Steamers, Coastal Plain League
Hughes recorded a 4.50 ERA in 21 appearances, third-most on the Steamers. He was part of two combined shutouts, allowed just eight hits over 22.0 innings and struck out 32. The Steamers finished 32-27 and earned a trip to the East Division Finals.
Thomas Lane (Jr., RHP) - Amsterdam Mohawks, Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League
Lane went 3-2 with a 2.30 for the Mohawks. He made nine starts and 10 total appearances, striking out 48 with 32 walks and 30 hits over 43.0 innings. He also threw a perfect inning of relief in the PGCBLÂ Prospect Showcase. The Mohawks finished the regular season first in the East Division with a 36-12 record, but lost in the playoffs.
Gian Martellini (Jr., C) - Cotuit Kettlers, Cape Cod Baseball League
Martellini recorded 18 hits, including four doubles and three home run, 11 runs, six walks and 16 RBIs. The Kettlers finished 22-21, second in West division, but lost in the CCBL playoffs. Martellini went 1-for-3 in postseason action.
Anthony Maselli (Sr., INF) -Â Edenton Steamers, Coastal Plain League
Maselli set the Coastal Plain League single-season record for stolen-base efficiency, going 30-for-30. His 37 walks on the summer was fourth in the CPL and his 27 double plays turned was second. Maselli tied for second on the Steamers with 40 runs, ranked third with 46 hits and tied for third with 34 RBIs and nine doubles. He also logged seven home runs. He logged a win on the hill, making two appearances of an inning each. He struck out three, allowed one run, one hit and one walk. The Steamers finished 32-27 and earned a trip to the East Division Finals.
Dan Metzdorf (So., LHP) - Chatham Anglers, Cape Cod Baseball League
Metzdorf went 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA for the Anglers. He has made 12 appearances, all in relief, recording 15 strikeouts, 20 hits and seven walks in 18.2 innings. The Anglers were 21-23. They fell in the deciding third game of the first round of the CCBL playoffs. The lefty walked one and recorded an out in his playoff appearance.Â
Jack Nelson (Jr., RHP) -Â Bourne Braves, Cape Cod Baseball League
Nelson played for the New Bedford Bay Sox (17-27) and recorded a 2-2 record, 3.42 ERA and 26 strikeouts over the summer. He threw 42.0 innings, allowing just eight walks and 38 hits on the summer. The righty finished his summer on the Cape with the Bourne Braves, making two appearances - 2.2 innings of relief. The Braves lost in the CCBL Championship game.Â
Jake Palomaki (Sr., INF) -Â Chatham Anglers, Cape Cod Baseball League
Palomaki tied for first in the Cape Cod Baseball League with 28 walks on the season. He recorded 26 hits, including three doubles and a homer, 10 RBIs, and 24 runs, playing both the infield and outfield. The Anglers were 21-23 on the summer. They fell in the deciding third game of the first round of the CCBL playoffs. Palomaki went 5-for-13 with a run and stolen base in the three playoff games.Â
Brian Rapp (Sr., RHP) - Cotuit Kettlers, Cape Cod Baseball League
Rapp went 1-0 with a 3.85 ERA in nine appearances, including one start, for the Kettlers. He allowed just 12 hits and 14 walks while striking out 24 in 20.1 innings of work. The Kettlers finished 22-21, second in West division, but lost in the CCBL playoffs. Rapp threw 1.2 innings of postseason baseball, allowing one walk and one hit while striking out one.
Aaron Soucy (So., C) - Wisconsin Woodchucks, Northwoods League
Soucy tallied 22 hits, including a double and two home runs, nine runs, seven RBIs and eight walks for the Woodchucks. The Woodchucks went 26-46 on the summer.Â
Jacob Stevens (Jr., RHP) -Â Chatham Anglers, Cape Cod Baseball League
Stevens made seven starts in the Cape League, recording a 4.32 ERA. He allowed 31 hits, 15 walks and 17 Ks over 25.0 innings. In his final appearance, the righty threw four scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out two. The Anglers were 21-23 on the summer.
Brandon Stone (Fr., INF) - Del Ray Lightning, South Florida Collegiate League
Incoming freshman Stone logged 26 runs, 25 hits, including four doubles, 14 RBIs, 27 walks and eight stolen bases for the Lightning.  He earned a spot on the SFCL North Division All-Star Team. The Lightning finished the regular season in first in the North Division and lost in the final game of the SFCBL championship series.
Zach Stromberg (Jr., LHP) - Kenosha Kingfish, Northwoods League
Stromberg was 3-2 for the Kingfish with a 2.16 ERA and one save. In 14 appearances with seven starts, he struck out 48, allowed 15 walks and 44 hits over 54.0 innings. Kenosha went 36-36 on the season.
John Witkowski (Jr., RHP) - Harwich Mariners, Cape Cod Baseball League
Witkowski appeared in 10 games with one start for the Mariners, recording a 3.00 ERA with 24 strikeouts and just six walks. He went 1-1 and allowed 29 hits over 27.0 innings. Witkowski recorded his first Cape Cod League win on July 29 in a five-inning, scoreless relief appearance, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out four. The Mariners were 15-28 on the summer.Â
Jacob Yish (So., OF) - Rome Generals, New York Collegiate Baseball League
Yish suffered an injury that ended his summer early but not before he logged a .291 batting clip with 23 hits, including two doubles and homer, 17 runs, seven RBIs and seven walks in 25 games for the Generals. Rome finished the summer 22-20 and Yish was named a NYCBL All-Star for his play in the first half of the season.Â
