Six Set to Join Eagles in 2017

Depth added to Ed Kelly’s squad
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's soccer team has added six newcomers to the 2017 roster, which head coach Ed Kelly released on Tuesday. The Eagles' full 2017 roster is now available at bceagles.com. | 2017 Roster

The six newcomers include sophomore midfield/back Heidar Aegisson, freshman forward Nikita Bondar, freshman midfield/back Ian Buehler, freshman goalkeeper Antonio Chavez Borelli, freshman midfielder Beto Luna and freshman back Jose Palomo.

Three of the players – Aegisson (Iceland), Bondar (Ukraine) and Palomo (El Salvador) have earned caps with their countries' youth national teams.

Boston College will open the 2017 season on Friday, Aug. 25, when the Eagles host Quinnipiac at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

Before BC: A former member of Iceland's Under-21 and Under-19 National Teams … has four caps in U19 competition and eight caps with the U21s … part of four Icelandic Champion teams with the Stjarnan Under-17s and Under-19s Under-19s, as well as U19 Icelandic Cup championship squads … named the Most Promising Player with the U19s in 2012, 2013 and 2014 … appeared in UEFA Europa League matches with Stjarnan against Bangor City, Motherwell, Lech Poznan and Inter Milan … also played basketball with Stjarnan, winning the U16 Icelandic Championship … enters Boston College with sophomore academic standing, but will have four years of athletic eligibility.
