BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Jake Palomaki drew a walk to lead off the game, breaking Boston College's all-time record for career walks with 115. He also had a hit in the game.
- Sophomore left-hander Dan Metzdorf allowed just one hit over five innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. He walked one and struck out four.
- Sophomore Gian Martellini was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. He extended his career-long hit streak to 13 games – the longest of the season for any BC player and tied for eighth in BC record books – and has at least one knock in 38 of the 45 games played this season.
- Junior Mitch Bigras, Martellini and senior Johnny all hit solo home runs in the victory.
- Junior Donovan Casey was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored. He threw a 123 ninth, striking out the side.
- Sophomore Jake Alu was 1-for-3 with an RBI. He has a hit in 13 of the last 16 games.
- Freshman Brian Dempsey doubled in the fourth. He has at least one hit in 11 of the last 14 games.
KEY PLAYS
- Bigras gave the Eagles a lead they would not lose with a solo shot in the fourth to break the 1-1 tie.
- Sophomore right-handed starter Jacob Stevens, Metzdorf and Casey combined to throw eight scoreless innings, allowing just one run in the first.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bobcats scored first, notching a run as Mike Palladino led off with a full-count base hit to center, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Joseph Burns. Stevens got all three outs by way of the K.
- The Eagles tied the game at one in the bottom of the inning. With Casey on first, senior Michael Strem singled to left center to put two and with two down, Alu knocked a base hit through the left side to score Casey from second. Strem was caught in a rundown between second and third to end the inning.
- Bigras led off the fourth with a solo shot off right-hand reliever Brandon Shileikis over the right-field wall to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.
- Martellini added to the BC lead with his fifth home run of the season over the left-field wall in the fifth.
- BC made it 4-1 in the seventh on another RBI by Martellini. Casey, who tallied an infield single, scored from first on a two-out single through the left side by the catcher.
- Adams hit his first home run over the left-field wall in the eighth.
