- Junior Donovan Casey retired all six batters he faced in the fifth and sixth innings with two strikeouts.
- Junior Mitch Bigras tied a career high with three hits on a 3-for-4 day.
- Freshman Jacob Yish logged his third RBI of the day after driving in two runs in the first game of the doubleheader.

- The Heels jumped out to a commanding, 10-1 lead after three innings off junior right-hand starter Brian Rapp.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNC scored two in the first as Brian Miller reached on an error, advanced to third on a grounder and scored on a sac fly by Aston McGee. Kyle Datres singled and moved to third on a hit and run. With runners on the corners, the Heels executed and double steal and beat a close  throw home for the second run.
- The Heels scored five in the second to take a seven-run lead. With two down and runners on first and second, Logan Warmoth singled to center to score one. A walk loaded the bases and Datres cleared them all with a double down the left-field line. He moved to third on the throw in and Brandon Riley plated him with a single.
- The Eagles got one back in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore Gian Martellini walked to start the inning, advanced to second on a Bigras single and to third on a groundout. Yish grounded out to plate the BC run.
- UNC scored three in the third to take a 10-1 lead. With a man on, Cody Roberts doubled to left to plate a run and moved to third on a throwing error. Michael Busch drove him in with a hard-hit liner to first. A double play cleared the bases before a Warmoth doubled and McGee plated him with an infield single.
- The Heels scored three to take a 13-1 lead with sophomore RHP Jack Nelson on the mound. With two on, Roberts doubled to score a run and Busch followed with a groundout to plate another. Miller hit an RBI single to right and was out at second on the throw in.
- Both teams scored two in the seventh to make it a 15-3 games. With senior RHP Michael Strem on the mound, Roberts led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a fly ball. Miller plated him with a sac fly and Warmoth followed with a home run to left.
- The Eagles scored two with two outs. Freshman Dante Baldelli drew a walk and junior Anthony Maselli doubled to put runners on second and third. Strem singled up the middle to drive in both runners.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The game was shortened to eight innings due to the prearranged last-inning start time. Â
- Yish started the first game of his young career in left field.
- Sophomore Jake Alu's career-long, eight game hit streak came to an end on a 0-for-3 day. It tied a season long with Casey.
- Sophomore Gian Martellini's career-long, seven-game hit streak also came to an end on a 0-for-1 day.
- Casey recorded an outfield assist in the fourth for the fourth of the season. The Eagles are fourth in the nation with 10 on the year.
- UNC improved to 24-2 in the all-time series and has won all nine series between the two squads.
- Â The Tar Heels were the fourth top-10 team the Eagles have faced in 2017. They are 1-11 in those games.
