April 21, 2017 | Baseball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Rain postponed the Boston College baseball team's series opener on Friday afternoon against NC State. The two teams' first game will now be at Fenway Park in the scheduled Sixth Annual ALS Awareness Game. The game, which honors former BC captain and ALS patient and advocate Pete Frates, is slated for 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Eagles (12-22, 3-15 ACC) and the Wolfpack (20-17, 8-10 ACC) will finish the series on Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond at Commander Shea Field.
Tickets for the ALS Awareness Game are $10 general admission and benefit the Pete Frates #3 Fund, which was created to aid in medical costs not covered by health insurance. They can be purchased online or at the door. Gates open at 3 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and WatchESPN and can be heard on WBNW 109.2 FM and 1120 AM. ESPN play-by-play announcer Jon Sciambi and sideline reporter Molly McGrath are both BC alums.
The Eagles and Pack will also honor former NC State baseball player Chris Combs (1994-97), who was diagnosed with ALS in May 2016.
