Bichette, Grab Named To All-ACC Academic Team

Boston College fencers Renee Bichette and Ethan Grab were named to the 2016-17 Atlantic Coast Conference Fencing All-ACC Academic team as released by the conference this morning.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the award must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters. To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Bichette, a native of Winter Park, Florida, advanced to her third NCAA Championships. She qualified as a freshman, sophomore and senior years. Bichette, a nursing major, finished sixth with a 9-6 record at the ACC Championship in the epee event last month.
Grab, a junior, qualified for the NCAA's for the first time this season. A native of Brookline, Mass., Grab placed seventh in the men's epee at the NCAA Regionals. He was also first in the epee event at New England Championship where the men took first place. Grab is in the Carroll School of Management as an economics major.
