Top-4 Seed and Home Ice Secured for NCAA Tournament

Eagles will host an NCAA Quarterfinal match vs. St. Lawrence on Saturday at 1 p.m.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's hockey team earned the No. 4 overall seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament and will host the quarterfinal round at Kelley Rink, as announced Sunday night by the NCAA. | Interactive Bracket | Printable Bracket

BC will face St. Lawrence at Kelley Rink on Saturday, March 11, at 1 p.m. Ticket and streaming information will be released later this week.

The Eagles earned Hockey East's automatic bid after winning the conference's tournament earlier today, topping Northeastern, 2-1, in overtime.

This marks Boston College's ninth NCAA Tournament berth and its sixth Top 4 seed, giving the team home ice in the quarterfinal berth. This will be the third straight year the Eagles have hosted the quarterfinal round at Kelley Rink.

The Eagles and Saints have a long history, playing almost annually since the 2006-07 season, but had a year off in the series this season.

BC leads the all-time series, 16-11-2, and is 7-0-1 in the last eight meetings, which began with the teams' last NCAA Quarterfinal meeting: a 6-3 BC win at Kelley Rink on March 10, 2012. Before that BC victory, St. Lawrence had gone five games unbeaten against BC (3-0-2) from January 2010 through January 2012.
Boston College was the Hockey East regular-season and tournament champion this year, and enters the NCAA Tournament with a 27-5-5 record. BC won its fourth-straight regular-season league crown with a 17-4-3 record, before claiming its second-straight Hockey East Tournament title on Sunday afternoon.
St. Lawrence has spent much of the season ranked in the Top 4 and boast a 26-5-4 overall record. The Saints finished second in the ECAC in the regular season with a 16-3-3 record, and fell to No. 7 Cornell in the ECAC semifinals this weekend.

Both teams are ranked in the nation's top five in both scoring offense and scoring defense. BC is fourth in offense (3.35 goals per game) and fifth in defense (1.59 goals allowed per game), while St. Lawrence is fifth in offense (3.29 goals per game) and third in team defense (1.49 goals allowed per game).

The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the 2017 Frozen Four, which will be hosted by Lindenwood University at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo., on Friday, March 17 and Sunday, March 19.Â
