Friday's Hockey East semifinal meeting between arch rivals Boston College and Boston University denotes the 274th installment of the Battle of Comm Ave. The Eagles skate into this one with a bit of a chip on their shoulder as the Terriers have claimed all three meetings against BC this season. BU has not defeated BC three-straight times since 2009. Friday's St. Patrick's Day showdown marks the 13th meeting, all-time, between the two Comm Ave. institutions and the fifth-ever bout in the Hockey East semifinals. Boston University has had the Eagles' number in the conference playoffs, owning a 9-3 mark over BC, including a 3-1 mark in the semifinals. The last meeting between BC and BU was in the 2013 semifinals where the Terriers won, 6-3. The Eagles have not defeated BU in the Hockey East Tournament since the 2007 semifinals (6-2) where Boston College went on to win the conference playoffs that season. As a whole, Jerry York is 6-4-1 against his BU counterpart, David Quinn. Prior to Quinn's arrival, the Eagles faced off against legendary coach Jack Parker 155 times dating back to 1973, including 82 meetings against York. In all, York is 43-42-8 against Boston University as head coach of the Eagles. In all, the Terriers hold an 11-game advantage over Boston College in the overall series, with a 133-122-18 mark.

The second-seeded Terriers skate into Friday's semifinal matchup on a three-game winning streak, most recently ousting Northeastern in the quarterfinals in back-to-back 3-2 victories. Freshman Clayton Keller clocks in as a top-10 scorer in the country (eighth), tops amongst all freshmen, averaging 1.43 points per game and just recently tallied his 40th point (19-21-40) of the season. Keller's one of four skaters in all of college hockey with four short-handed goals this year. Boston University's offense is 18th, nationally, averaging 3.19 goals per game while the defense is ninth overall (2.25 gpg).

Boston College owns an overall record of 67-30-2 (.687) in the Hockey East tournament with a record 11 Lamoriello Trophies (1987, 1990, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012) and the same number of tournament MVPs. Boston College will be making back-to-back trips to TD Garden for the Hockey East semifinals for the first time since 2012 and 2013. The Eagles passed into the semis after a dominating sweep over Vermont in the quarterfinals at Kelley Rink on March 10-11. The Eagles have a strong track record in the Hockey East semis, going 16-6 (.727). Last year, Boston College was bounced by a red-hot Northeastern team in the semifinals. BC's last win in the semis occurred in 2012 in a 4-2 win over Providence.
JERRY YORK IN THE HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT
Jerry York's nine Hockey East tournament titles (1998, 1999, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012) are the gold standard in Hockey East. BU's Jack Parker is second with seven. York is 57-18-1 (.757) in 76 conference postseason contests. Boston College has advanced to the semifinal round of the league tournament in 12-of-18 seasons overall under York (York's first semifinal showing was in 1997). Boston College's 7-0 shutout in Friday night's win over Vermont marked the first time the Eagles tallied seven goals in a Hockey East tournament contest since the 7-6 overtime victory over Maine in the 2010 Hockey East Championship game. It also marks the largest margin of victory EVER by a Boston College team over an opponent in a Hockey East tournament game played. It is also the largest margin of victory over Vermont since it joined the league. The last time Boston College posted a margin of victory that large was at Massachusetts on Jan. 22, 2016 when head coach Jerry York won his 1,000th-career game. The Eagles won that game, 8-0.
HANKERIN' FOR SOME HISTORY
The Eagles took down Vermont in respective 7-0 and 7-4 scores on March 10-11 in the Hockey East quarterfinals. Boston College's 14 goals to open its Hockey East Tournament bid mark the most in its first two games in conference postseason history.
DROP AND GIMMIE 20
After defeating Vermont on March 11 to complete the sweep, Boston College won its 20th game of the season. It marks the eight-consecutive season the Eagles have stockpiled 20 or more wins, every year since the 2009-10 season.
