BC goaltender Joseph Woll collects weekly honor for two wins and a shoutout on SportsCenter
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore goaltender Joseph Woll was awarded Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, Nov. 20, after racking up a pair of victories and turning in the save of the season thus far.
Â
On Friday, Nov. 17 at New Hampshire, Woll stopped 23-of-25 Wildcat attempts, including one save that yielded him the No. 2 play on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays of the day. The 6-foot-4 goaltender tried to play a puck off the glass but it took a funky carom off the stanchion and pinballed right between the circles for an easy UNH goal. Woll immediately detected where the puck bounced to and sprinted back to the crease and made a diving save to thwart New Hampshire's game-tying goal with 5:30 left to play in regulation. With that play, Boston College hung on and won, 3-2.

The St. Louis native backed up Friday's heroics with his sixth victory of the season at Northeastern, stopping 27-of-28 Huskies' attempts.
Â
On the season, Woll has started 11 games and crafted a 6-4-1 record with a 2.45 goals against average (27th in NCAA) and a .909 save percentage (42nd in NCAA).
Â
With heavy influence from Woll's play, Boston College is tied with Notre Dame for the longest winning streak in the nation currently.
Â
Boston College has strung together its first seven-game winning streak since rattling off 11 in a row from October 16 to November 28, 2015. It marks the longest unbeaten spell since BC went 9-0-1 from October 16 to November 13, 2016.
Â
In addition to its seven-game winning stretch, Boston College has also won four true road games in a row. It marks the first time the Eagles have won four-straight road games since the 2009-10 season when BC defeated UMass (3-1 – Dec. 4, 2009), BU (4-1 – Dec. 5, 2009), Harvard (3-2 – Dec. 9, 2009) and Providence (3-1, Dec. 12, 2009).
Â
BC's goaltender is joined by Hockey East Player of the Week Christoffer Hernberg, (UMass Lowell) and Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Jeremy Swayman (Maine).
Â
Boston College returns home following its four-game stretch away from Kelley Rink to host another Beanpot opponent in Harvard on Friday, November 24 at 4 p.m.
