GOAL DESCRIPTIONS
FIRST GOAL (1-0 – Boston College) FIRST PERIOD – Jesper Mattila – 19:43 – EVEN STRENGTH
• After a fast-paced first period, Boston College snuck one in late in the first with 17.1 seconds left on the clock. Aapeli Rasanen generated the scoring play, getting the puck out of BC's end and connected with David Cotton just before crossing the blue line. Cotton bounced it off the near boards where Jesper Mattila swooped in and took a deep attempt on NU netminder Cayden Primeau. The puck caromed off of Husky defenseman Ryan Shea and it duped Primeau, who was shifting the other way and Mattila got credited with the goal and a 1-0 Eagle edge.
Â
SECOND GOAL (2-0 – Boston College) THIRD PERIOD – Graham McPhee – 9:16 – POWER PLAY
• Boston College capitalized on its second power play opportunity of the night on a great play in the corner, generated by Michael Kim. The defenseman played the puck off the wall, beating out a Husky scream to Christopher Brown behind the net. As Northeastern crashed the net, Graham McPhee snuck behind the defense and made himself available. Brown connected with McPhee in the lower right circle and he beat Primeau with the quick snap shot at 9:16 of the third on the power play for a 2-0 advantage.
Â
THIRD GOAL (3-0 – Boston College) THIRD PERIOD – Ron Greco – 9:51 – EVEN STRENGTH
• On the ensuing possession, Ron Greco crafted some trickery 35 seconds later to put the game in hand for the Eagles. Julius Mattila quarterbacked the play and slipped the disc through the zone up to his brother, Jesper, at the top of the left circle. Jesper Mattila took a chance by tossing it off the backboards and letting Greco give chase. Greco got to the puck behind the net and instead of trying to wheel it to the crease, he took a chance and banked off of Primeau's stick from behind the net. Primeau's stick was tilted an awkward angle and the disc caromed to the back of the net to put the game in hand for Boston College, 3-0, at 9:51 of the third.
Â
FOURTH GOAL (4-0 – Boston College) THIRD PERIOD – Julius Mattila – 11:40 – EVEN STRENGTH
• Julius Mattila put the game out of reach at 11:40 of the third after attacking from out deep. Jesper Mattila scooted the puck out of Boston College's zone and shoved it forward to Cotton in the flank. Cotton gained the zone and dished over to Julius Mattila at the top of the left circle. As Northeastern's defense tried to set up, Mattila flung the disc towards the goalmouth and off a diving defenseman. Primeau was not able to react in time and that would finish off the Huskies, making it a 4-0 game.
Â
FIFTH GOAL (4-1 – Northeastern) THIRD PERIOD – John Picking – 16:41 – EVEN STRENGTH
• Northeastern's John Picking busted up Joseph Woll's shutout bid with 3:19 to play. Jeremy Davies won the draw our to Eetu Selanne and he immediately tossed it at the net.
