
Watts Sweeps National, Conference Player and Rookie Awards

Eagles’ freshman wins AHCA and Hockey East Player and Rookie of the Month honors
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey freshman forward Daryl Watts earned four awards on Wednesday, winning American Hockey Coaches Association National Player of the Month and National Rookie of the Month honors, as well as Hockey East's Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month recognitions.

Making her collegiate debut for the Eagles on Oct. 5, Watts closed out the month on Sunday leading the nation in scoring (21), points per game (3.00), goals (10), power-play points (7) and shots per game (6.29). She is second nationally in assists per game (1.57), goals per game (1.43) and power-play goals (4), and ranks third overall in assists (3).

In October, the Toronto, Ontario, product posted points in all seven of Boston College's games, recording multiple points in six of seven contests. She factored in six of seven game-deciding goals last month, including the game-winning assist against Minnesota Duluth (Oct. 5), game-winning goal against UMD (Oct. 6), game-winning assist vs. Quinnipiac (Oct. 17), game-tying goal at UConn (Oct. 20), game-winning assist at Vermont (Oct. 22) and game-winning assist at Boston University (Oct. 28). Overall in October, Watts factored in 21 of the BC's 29 goals and had three four-point games and two three-point games.

Watts has been recognized by Hockey East in each of the three weeks she has competed, including the league's player of the week on Oct. 9, and back-to-back rookie of the week awards on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30.

No. 2 Boston College (6-0-1) returns to the ice on Friday, Nov. 3, when the team hosts No. 9 Providence (6-2-2, 3-0-0 HEA) in a matchup of the league's last two undefeated teams in conference play. Faceoff is set for 2 p.m. at Kelley Rink and the game will be streamed live on ESPN3, which is accessible at WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.
