Eagles improve to 9-5-1 in 3-1 win over Miami.

Freshman Sam Coffey, senior Lauren Berman and junior Carly Leipzig netted goals as the Boston College women's soccer team defeated ACC foe Miami, 3-1, on the road at Cobb Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Eagles improved to 9-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference. Miami is now 4-7-0 and 0-5-0 in the ACC.
Miami went up 1-0 when the Hurricanes were awarded a penalty kick just seven minutes into the game. After the goal by Kristina Fisher, BC responded nine minutes later on a corner kick.
Rookie Sam Coffey's highlight goal came off a corner kick. The first-year midfielder bent the ball into the far post for her fourth goal of the season.
The Eagles went up 2-1 when junior Carly Leipzig left-footed shot from 15 yards out found the back of the goal. The security goal by the Eagles came from senior Lauren Berman, who played a strong overall game. The midfielder one-timed a ball in the box sent in from Leipzig for the two-goal lead in the 73rd minute.
Junior goalkeeper Alexis Bryant (three saves) came up with two big stops early in the second half on two Miami shots in the box. The Eagles keeper had a key stop late in the game to keep the score at 3-1 and pick up her ninth win of the season.
The BC offense peppered the Miami goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce with 13 shots on goal. Sophomore Jenna Bike had six shots, while Sam Coffey had five shots. Tullis-Joyce had 10 saves in the match.

GOAL: MIAMI 1, BOSTON COLLEGE 0 – 7th minute: Miami was awarded a corner kick after BC goalkeeper Alexis Bryant battled for a 50-50 ball in the box. Miami's Kristina Fisher converted the penalty kick to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead.
GOAL: BOSTON COLLEGE 1, MIAMI 1 – 16th minute: Eagles rookie Sam Coffey scored off a corner kick on a bending ball that hit the back post and deflected into the goal to tie the match.
GOAL: BOSTON COLLEGE 2, MIAMI 1 – 32nd minute: Sophomore Emily Langenderfer picked up a loose ball and connected with Carly Leipzig just inside the box. Leipzig received the ball, shielded the defender and one-timed a left-footed shot from 16 yards out into the far post for a 2-1 BC lead.
GOAL: BOSTON COLLEGE 3, MIAMI 1 – 73rd minute: The third goal started in the back when Erin Convery found Carly Leipzig up field. Leipzig sent the ball into the box and senior Lauren Berman just beat the Miami defender to the ball. She slid and snuck the shot into the corner to the right of the Miami goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce for a 3-1 BC lead.

- Boston College carried the play in the first half despite giving up the one goal on a penalty kick. At the half, BC had 13 shots to just three for Miami. The Eagles placed seven shots on goal.
- Rookie Sam Coffey scored her fourth goal of the season on a spectacular individual effort. Coffey's bending corner kick hit the far post to tie the match. Prior to going down with an injury in the first half, Coffey had three shots on goal. It was her first goal since scoring against Louisville on Sept. 17.
- Junior Carly Leipzig played 46 minutes and had a goal and assist for the first time in her career. Leipzig now has three goals and an assist this season. It was also her first career game-winning-goal.
- Lauren Berman scored her team-high sixth goal of the season to go along with three assists for 15 points. That is her person season-high. Last year she had four goals and eight assists for 16 points.
