Freshman quarterback named ACC Rookie of the Week and honored by The Manning Award
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown was named the ACC Rookie of the Week by the conference office on Monday. In addition, The Manning Award also named Brown one of its eight quarterbacks nationally as its "Stars of the Week" after his big performance in the 41-10 win over Virginia on Oct. 21.
Â
Brown finished 19-of-24 passing for a career-high 275 yards in the road victory at UVA. The freshman also threw for a career-high three touchdowns.
Â
Brown was the first Boston College player with three passing touchdowns and zero interceptions in a conference game since Quinton Porter in 2003.
Â
The Eagles scored 40-plus points in consecutive ACC games for the first time in school history. The last time BC scored 40 or more points in back-to-back games was against Rutgers (44-14) and Toledo (51-25) in the final two games of the 2002 season. Boston College never scored 40 or more points in two straight BIG EAST games as a member of the conference from 1993 to 2004.
Â
Brown completed a career-long 76-yard touchdown pass to Kobay White and found tight end Tommy Sweeney for a pair of touchdowns.
Â
Boston College returns to action Friday, Oct. 27, at Alumni Stadium against Florida State. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. with broadcast coverage on ESPN, the BC IMG Sports Network (WEEI 93.7 FM) and SportsUSA Radio nationally. Tickets are available for the game at BCEagles.com.
