The 2017-18 season marks the 30th anniversary of the rowing program
The Boston College rowing team officially starts the 2017-18 season with the Head of the Charles Regatta on the Eagles' home course along the Charles River on Oct. 21-22. In its 53rd year, the HOCR attracts 11,000 competitors and 400,000 spectators from around the world and this year, BC will compete in four events on Saturday and Sunday.
The program also will celebrate 30 years of rowing at The Heights. The Eagles will welcome back alumni from all eras and nine alumni will race in the alumni eight event on Saturday at 1:18 p.m.
The club four (bow #34) will kick off race day on Saturday for BC at 1:57 p.m. in the 19th event of the day. This crew is led by junior coxswain Danielle Eng. The women's club eight will follow at 2:37 p.m.
On Sunday, the BC championship four (bow #8) will race at 1:30 p.m. This crew includes three freshmen: Shannon LoStracco, Caitlin Cornacchia and Alexa Liquori. The varsity eight (bow #24) will compete in the championship eight event at 2:22 p.m. The championship eight is the premier event of the regatta, showcasing some of the fastest collegiate crews.
