True freshman running back fifth Eagle since 2004 to earn the honor
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, for games ending October 14.
Â
Boston College true freshman running back AJ Dillon has been named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in the win at Louisville.
Â
Dillon finished with the third-best single-game rushing total in Boston College history with 272 yards to go along with four touchdowns in the 45-42 victory over the Cardinals. The 272 yards are the most by a true freshman nationally in 2017 and the most ever by a Boston College freshman.
Â
Dillon's 272 yards in a game are also the fifth-most by any player in the country this season.
Â
The four rushing touchdowns tied for the third-best performance in BC single-game history. Andre Williams (2013 vs. Army) and Montel Harris (2009 vs. NC State) hold the school record with five rushing touchdowns in a game.
Â
He is the fifth Boston College player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the first since running back Andre Williams (Nov. 17, 2013).
