BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Mariella Fasoula notched her fifth double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds. She also had four blocks.
- Rookie Georgia Pineau pitched in with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists while Emma Guy finished with eight points and six rebounds.
- Senior Kelly Hughes grabbed three rebounds to give her 601 boards. She is now the third guard in program history to score over 1,000 points and grabe 600 rebounds. The other two are Sarah Behn '93 and Kristen Doherty '14.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wake Forest opened on a 7-0 run but the Eagles chipped away behind four points from Taylor Ortlepp and four from Mariella Fasoula - BC 10, WF 12 – with 3:44 to play in the first quarter. BC shot 50 percent while the Deacs shot 56 percent to take a 22-14 lead after the first quarter. Fasoula led BC with eight points.
- The Eagles offense stalled in the second quarter as Wake Forest jumped out to a 33-20 lead with four minutes to play behind Elisa Penna's six second quarter points. BC was outscored in the final three minutes, 10-4, as Wake Forest held a 41-26 lead at the half.
- Boston College shot 43 percent in the quarter and outscored Wake, 6-0, in the final two minutes to cut into the lead, 53-41.
- After cutting into the lead at the end of three quarters, BC was outscored 7-2 to open the final quarter – WF 60, BC 43. BC struggled to cut into the lead as the two teams traded baskets.
