UConn relocated home game to Fenway Park
BOSTON – Fenway Sports Management today announced that college football will return to Fenway Park in November, 2017, with a collection of New England's Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs.
On Saturday, November 18, the University of Connecticut will host Boston College. This will be the first football game at Fenway Park for the University of Connecticut, and the 77th for Boston College. The game was originally scheduled to be play at UConn in East Hartford prior to today's announcement moving the game to Fenway Park.
Boston College shutout UConn 30-0 in the last meeting between the two schools on Nov. 19, 2016 at Alumni Stadium. The Eagles are 11-0-2 all-time against UConn and 6-0-1 in Chestnut Hill against the Huskies. BC has won the last 10 meetings and outscored the Huskies, 297-59.
"This is a great opportunity for our fans to see us play seven games in Boston, our players to experience a world-famous venue, and to showcase New England and ACC football with the 'Football at Fenway' series," said Boston College William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Brad Bates. "We are excited about the chance to play a game in one of American's most iconic sports venues."
It will be the 77th time the Eagles play at Fenway, holding a 54-17-5 all-time record at the oldest American ballpark. In the first contest on the baseball pitch in 1914, BC defeated Norwich, 28-6. BC's last game at Fenway Park was in 2015 as No. 4 Notre Dame defeated the Eagles 19-16.
"This is a unique experience for our players to play another game at Fenway Park," said Boston College head football coach Steve Addazio. "To be able to have a road game, in the city of Boston, is just tremendous. I can't wait to see our fans pack Fenway Park and cheer on the Eagles."
Game time and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
