BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior right-handed starter Mike King went the distance, throwing all nine innings en route to his fifth win of the season. He allowed just five hits, one run and two walks while striking out six. King retired 25 of the 32 batters he faced and threw 110 total pitches in his third career complete game.
- Junior Nick Sciortino was 2-for-4 with a double and runs scored. He extended his hit streak to a career-long 10 games, which is also the longest of the season for the Eagles. Since moving to the No. 2 spot in the batting order, the catcher has recorded 16 hits, eight runs, five RBIs and seven walks. He also threw out his ACC-leading 14th base runner stealing.
- Junior Johnny Adams put in a 1-for-4 day with two RBIs and a run. He has 19 hits in the last 14 games.
- Freshman Dominic Hardaway was 2-for-3 with an RBI. It marked the third time in the young Eagle's career he has tallied two hits on the day.
KEY PLAYS
The two runs scored in the second and third were all the Eagles would need as King as electric on the mound, allowing just one run on five hits and two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the second on three hits and an error. Freshman Gian Martellini doubled to left center and Adams reached on an error to put two on with two outs. Sophomore Mitch Bigras knocked one to right to plate the first run of the game and Hardaway followed with a base hit through the right side to make it a 2-0 game.
- BC added two runs in the third to go up by four on a two-run single by Adams. Sciortino led off with a base hit up the middle and junior Michael Strem laid down a bunt; the first baseman's throw was wide, allowing both runners to reach. Senior Joe Cronin moved both runners up with a sac bunt and with two down, Adams laced one back up the middle to drive in both BC runners.
- The Hokies got one back in the fourth as Saige Jenco got a lead-off walk and Tom Stoffel followed with a double off the wall in right. King got a fly ball to right, which senior Logan Hoggarth fired in, not allowing Jenco to tag up, but Nick Anderson grounded out to short to plate VT's first run. King ended the inning with another grounder.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- When striking out at least six, King is 3-0 with one no decision.
- The Eagles recorded three sacrifice hits in a game for the first time in 2016.
- The Eagles are 20-6 when they score first.

- The Eagles did not make an error for the 14th time this season. They are 9-5 in those games.
- Cronin's 671 career at bats put him in sixth in BC's record books.
