Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
Boston College women's basketball will add Taylor Ortlepp to the roster for next season as announced by Head Coach Erik Johnson this afternoon.
"Taylor has the ability to make an immediate impact on our back court. She is very valuable as a scoring point guard who can also set up her teammates for scoring opportunities. Taylor is an intense defender and
also an excellent leader on and off the floor," said Coach Johnson.
Ortlepp is a native of Adelaide, Australia and graduated from Saint Ignatius College. She signed her letter of intent on April 11 and will join the Eagles as a freshman next season.
This will give the Eagles five incoming rookies next season – Ortlepp will join her Aussie teammate Georgia Pineau who is from Victoria; Tabor's Shannon Ryan from Platsburgh, New York; Emma Guy from Penfield, New York and Jasmine Taylor from Springfield, Virginia.
At 5-foot-9 Ortlepp can play both point and off-guard. She also plays for the Norwood Flames in the South Australian Premier League. Ortlepp was named the "most promising guard at the club" and the MVP in 2012.
Ortlepp was the captain on the U-20 Australian Junior Championships in 2016. The team earned a silver medal in the tournament.
She also played for Australia at the World Juniors in 2014 at the FIBA World U-17 Championships. Australia finished fifth at the tournament. She played with Pineau in that tournament.
Ortlepp was the MVP in 2015 of the U-21 Adelaide Premier League. She also played for the MAC Adelaide Lightning elite team in the WNBL.
