
Boston College Among National Leaders in Academic Success

12 BC teams honored with the NCAA APR Recognition Award
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Twelve Boston College athletic teams were recognized Wednesday with the NCAA APR (Academic Progress Rate) Public Recognition Award.
Each year, the awards are bestowed upon teams finishing in the top 10 percent of their respective sport based on the most recent multi-year APR (2014-15).
Boston College's 12 programs recognized include: men's cross country, women's cross country, women's fencing, men's golf, women's golf, women's hockey, lacrosse, rowing, men's skiing, women's skiing, men's track and women's track.
BC's 12 teams honored  is tied for fifth nationally among FBS schools, and third among Atlantic Coast Conference schools. Stanford (17), Notre Dame (16), Duke (15) and Minnesota (14) ranked higher nationally than BC. In the conference, after Notre Dame, Duke and BC followed Virginia (8), North Carolina (7), Georgia Tech (4), Louisville (4), Clemson (3), Miami (3), Pittsburgh (3), Florida State (2), NC State (1), Syracuse (1), Virginia Tech (1) and Wake Forest (1)
The women's hockey team is one of just two Power 5 programs to earn the Recognition Award (with Penn State),while two women's rowing teams (BC, West Virginia) and six women's lacrosse programs (BC, Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, Rutgers and Vanderbilt) were among those recognized in the Power 5 conferences.
On the track, APR is now calculated per track program, and no longer separated by indoor and outdoor seasons. With the new system, six men's track teams and six women's track teams were recognized in the Power 5 conferences, including both of Boston College's programs. The Eagles' skiing programs were the only men's and women's teams from the same school recognized with Recognition Awards.
Boston College has been among the national leaders of FBS schools honored with the APR Recognition Award every year it has been presented.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester or quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
