- Junior Logan Hoggarth notched a hit and an RBI, setting a new career-long hit streak of eight games. He ended the season with at least one hit in 17 of the last 21 games.
- Senior LHP Nick Poore picked up the win to finish his BC career. He went the final two innings, retired six of the seven batters he faced, allowing just one hit and striking out two.
- Senior Nick Colucci knocked in the game-winning run with one out in the 10th, the first walk-off hit in his career.
- Freshman Donovan Casey led the way for the Eagles with a 3-for-5 day, tallying his second triple in the last two days and tying the game in the bottom of the ninth with two outs on a two-run single.
KEY PLAYS
- Down by two in the ninth with two outs and the bases loaded, Casey came through with a single to center to tie the game.
- Adams walked to start the 10th, moved up on a passed ball and junior Stephen Sauter moved him to third on a passed ball. Colucci drove him in with a deep ball to left center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Irish put up runs in the second and third off solo shots by Kyle Fiala and Ricky Sanchez and each time the Eagles were able to answer with a run of their own.
- In the second, Casey tripled to right and Hoggarth brought him home with a sac fly.
- In the third, Palomaki led off with a single and with the hit and run on, Butera laced one to left center to put runners at the corners. Sophomore Michael Strem plated Palomaki with a sac fly to right.
- Notre Dame went back up in the sixth on a two-run blast by Robert Youngdahl. Junior RHP John Nicklas entered the game after junior starter left-hander Jesse Adams got a strikeout and allowed a walk and forced a double play on the first pitch to end the inning.
- BC got one back with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Junior Chris Shaw led off with a single and moved to second on a groundout by Casey. With two down, sophomore Johnny Adams launched one to left center, falling at the wall for a double and scoring Shaw. Sauter drew a walk and the Irish went to the pen for RHP Connor Hale. He got Colucci swinging to end the inning.
- The Irish pushed it back to a two-run lead with a run in the seventh. ND loaded the bases on three singles before Nicklas got a liner to third for the first out. Ryan Lidge hit a sac fly to center to plate one run and Nicklas got out of inning with a chopper back to the mound.
- The Eagles tied the game on their final chance with two outs in the ninth and lefty closer Sean Guenther on the mound. Palomaki drew a one-out walk and with two down, Strem reached on an error. Shaw singled to load the bases and Casey came through with a base hit to center, scoring Palomaki and Strem. Guenther got a strikeout to force extras.
- After Poore surrendered just a two-out single in the top of the 10th, Adams started the bottom of the inning with a walk. He moved to second on a passed ball and Sauter got him to third with a perfect sacrifice bunt down the line. Colucci nailed Guenther's pitch to the wall in left center to score Adams and give the Eagles the victory.
