BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior LHP Jesse Adams retired the first 20 batters he faced, giving up just one hit in his seventh with two outs. On the day, that was the only baserunner to reach and Adams ended his outing with his seventh K.
- Junior RHP John Nicklas and sophomore RHP Justin Dunn completed the shutout, each pitching an inning and allowing just one hit and striking out one.
- Sophomore Johnny Adams went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI triple. He went 5-for-10 in the three-game series with the Yellow Jackets, scoring two runs and driving in three. He has tallied a hit in the last five games.
- Freshman Jake Palomaki was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. He extended his on-base streak to 22 games.
KEY PLAYS
- The Eagles got an early run in the first, which turned out to be all they needed, as Adams was dominant on the mound, retiring the first 20 batters he faced. Nicklas and Dunn finished the job, allowing just one baserunner between the two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles scored the first run for the third time in the series, getting on the board in the first. Palomaki and senior Blake Butera led off with back-to-back base hits and took off on a double steal to move into scoring position with one out. Sophomore Michael Strem was intentionally walked to load the bases and sophomore Nick Sciortino came through with a chopper to plate Palomaki.
- BC got two more in the seventh. Junior Logan Hoggarth led off with a single through the left side and moved to second on a wild pitch. With one down, Adams hit a triple, his second of the season, to center, driving in Hoggarth. Palomaki laid down a suicide squeeze with Adams coming home. The throw from pitcher Brandon Gold was late, giving BC a 3-0 lead.
- Adams gave up his only hit of the game in the seventh. After forcing two fly balls, Matt Gonzalez laced one down the left-field line for a double. Adams came back with a strikeout swinging to end the inning.
- BC took a four-run lead in the eighth with RHP Zac Ryan on the mound. Two errors cost Georgia Tech as Sciortino grounded to third base and Gonzalez's throw went wide, allowing Sciortino to land on second. Freshman Donovan Casey bunted one back to the mound and Ryan threw to third to get the lead runner, but his throw was also errant, allowing Sciortino to score.
