·Junior Chris Shaw extended his on-base streak to 35 games with a single in the sixth. He also has a hit in 32 of the last 38 games.
·Junior Stephen Sauter recorded an RBI single in the second. He has four RBIs in the seven games played and extended his hit streak to a career-long four games with a 2-for-4 afternoon.
KEY PLAYS
·The Eagles surrendered an early, 2-0 lead in the fourth, allowing Florida State to jump out, 4-2.
·The Noles increased their lead to 8-4 the following inning, and while BC tried to mount a comeback, the Eagles could only a run in the sixth and in the ninth.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Eagles scored two in the second to take an early lead. Junior Joe Cronin led off with a walk and freshman Donovan Casey brought him home with a double straight down the third-base line. Casey moved to third on a balk and Sauter plated him with a single to center.
· Florida State scored four in the fourth to take the lead.DJ Stewart walked and John Sansone doubled to put runners in scoring position. Gage West scored both of them with a liner into right. After a double play retired two, Dunn walked two and gave up a single to Danny De La Calle, scoring the go-ahead run. With runners at the corners, a passed ball scored the fourth run and the Eagles were able to get out of the inning by catching De La Calle in a rundown between second and third.
· The Noles added four more in the fifth to take an 8-2 lead. The first two batters reached on a walk and single. With one down, redshirt sophomore RHP Luke Fernandes relieved Dunn. After getting a fly out, he gave up a single to bring in one run. Fernandes then allowed a three-run shot to left to Dylan Busby before a groundout ended the inning.
· BC got one back in the sixth with two down. Shaw and sophomore Michael Strem tallied back-to-back singles and Cronin drove Shaw in with a double to left. That chased Johnson from the game, bringing in LHP Dylan Silva, who got Casey to line out to end the inning.
·Senior LHP Nick Poore and junior RHP John Nicklas finished the game for the Eagles without allowing a hit or run. The two combined for three innings and gave up just a walk each.
·In the seventh, BC got its lead runners to second and third as junior Logan Hoggarth and Sauter hit back-to-back singles, but Silva was able to retire the next three Eagles in a row and keep BC off the board.
· In the ninth, the Eagles used their last at bats to try to rally. Casey recorded an infield single and Hoggarth followed with a chopper through the right side. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and with one out, senior pinch hitter Nick Colucci plated Casey with a groundout to first. A grounder to second ended the game.
