KEY PLAYS
· Florida State scored two runs in the third and only added to its lead. Starter Mike Compton retired 13 BC batters in a row once the Seminoles had the lead to keep his team on top.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·The Noles scored two in the third to take an early lead. Danny De La Calle led off with the first hit of the game for FSU - a double down the left-field line. Taylor Walls plated him with a double to right. After a dropped fly ball in center, the Seminoles had runners at first and third and DJ Stewart grounded out to score the second run. Junior RHP starter Jeff Burke ended the inning with a fly ball and grounder.
·Florida State added four runs in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. Burke put two on by allowing a single and a walk but got the next two batters out. Adams came into the game and walked John Sansone to load the bases. He gave up a single to pinch hitter Qincy Nieporte to score two and Dylan Busby doubled to right to score Sansone and Nieporte before the lefty ended the inning with a strikeout.
· The Noles scored their final run in the sixth. Ben DeLuzio doubled to lead off and moved to third on a grounder back to Adams on the mound. Walls hit one to sophomore shortstop Johnny Adams, who threw home to try to get DeLuzio, but the throw was late.
