HOW IT HAPPENED
·The Eagles got on the board in the first, scoring one after Burke tallied a 123 first. Sophomore Michael Strem drew a two-out walk and stole second to move into scoring position. Junior Chris Shaw came through with a liner to third, which third baseman Jack Labosky could not handle, allowing Strem to score.
·BC came back and scored five more in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead and chase starter Matuella from the game. With one down, freshman Jake Palomaki drew a walk and stole second. Cronin plated him with a double to right. Strem walked and Shaw hit a blooper to left to load the bases. Freshman Donovan Casey chopped one back to the mound and Matuella bobbled the ball, allowing Cronin to score. Duke went to the pen for Day and Sciortino came through with a bases-clearing double to right center to give the Eagles a six-run lead.
·The only run Duke mustered was in the top of the ninth on a lead-off home run by Cris Perez. Dunn settled in and got the next three batters out on a strikeout and two fly balls.
