KEY PLAYS
· The Eagles jumped out to an early 4-0 lead by the third inning and while the Crusaders made a run in the eighth, scoring two off freshman LHP Carmen Giampetruzzi, Nicklas entered the game and got BC out of the jam.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead in the second as Casey singled to lead off the inning and sophomore Nick Sciortino drove him in with a double off the wall in right center.
· BC added three more in the third. With one down, freshman Jake Palomaki drew a walk and stole second to move into scoring position. Sophomore Michael Strem tallied an infield single to put two on with two outs and junior Chris Shaw plated both with a double to right center. Casey followed with a single up the middle to score Shaw.
· After BC pitchers retired nine straight dating back to the fifth, Giampetruzzi gave up a two-out walk to Alex Voitik in the eighth. Bobby Indeglia doubled to the wall in center to score Holy Cross's first run of the game and tally the Crusaders' first hit since the third inning. Josh Hassell plated Indeglia with a single to left center before Nicklas entered the game. He gave up a single but settled in and forced a grounder to short to get out of the inning.
